- Students must complete TWO years of PE for graduation.
- PE can be waived in 10th-12th grade if students is an athlete on a CIF team at GOHS.
- Off Campus, Independent PE is offered at the District Office.
- For students enrolled in AFJROTC, the second year is dedicated to two semesters of physical education credit.

Fitness Walking
Walking for Fitness is designed to stress the importance of cardiovascular, muscular, and mental fitness development for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The course will help teachers and administrators acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for physical fitness through participation in a carefully monitored walking program. A variety of instructional information and teaching strategies adaptable for classroom use is also provided.

Health
Health is a semester-long elective class that covers topics that thoroughly study health in modern people, major mental and physical problems, and the means to control and prevent illness. The goal is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote lifelong wellness. By providing basic personal health information, Health courses empower students with strong decision-making capabilities that are essential to positive self-esteem. Students will be able to find answers to today’s perplexing health issues, assess their own health, and improve their health skills.

Independent Study Physical Education
Independent Study Physical Education is an educational option approved by the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Independent Study PE affords students the opportunity to extend physical education learning activities beyond the school campus and regular school hours. Independent Study PE allows students advanced study in activities not normally available in the District’s physical education program. In order to qualify, students must participate in an individual sport (no team sports are permitted), work with a one-on-one coach and meet one of the following criteria:
- Student is an exceptionally gifted athlete who is competing at the regional, state, or national competition level within the school year in an individual sport. No team sports are permitted.
- Students have an impacted schedule due to a special academic support program.

Physical Education 1
Students will receive basic instruction in sports-related skills, including rules and scoring for various team and individual sports. The five components of health and fitness will be stressed. Students will participate in classroom activities and be introduced to and tested in various fitness components. State-mandated fitness testing is administered in the spring. All freshmen, including athletes, must take PE 1 A/B.
Physical Education 2
Students will participate in tournament-type activities in softball, volleyball, basketball, football, soccer and tennis. Some fitness will be included.

Weights
In weights, students develop and constantly improve their own personalized 5-day-a-week weight program. Weights can be taken more than once.

Introduction to Yoga
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods of yoga. Students will begin to experience the benefits of stretching, moving, and breathing freely as they relieve built up stress, learn to relax, and ultimately get more out of dayto-day life. The aim of this course is to promote vibrant health and to tap the body’s latent energy reserves.
