Welcome to Kindergarten at Ysabel Barnett Elementary!

My name is Mrs. Jeannette Peterson and I will be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year.  A new school year is beginning, and the learning possibilities are endless!  I just wanted to let you know how excited I am to be working with you and your child.  I can't wait to get started!  I believe Kindergarten sets the foundation as well as a child's attitude toward school.  I want to assure you that I will provide a lot of encouragement and guidance so that your Kindergartener will feel safe, happy, and a special part of our class!  I hope to instill a life long love for learning for your child that starts right here in our classroom!    

This is my 21st year teaching in the Temecula Valley Unified School District and my 17th year teaching at Ysabel Barnett Elementary School. I started my teaching career at Vail Elementary and then had the privilege of opening Ysabel Barnett Elementary in 2001.  I have completed my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Georgia and my Master's Degree in Teaching with a specialization in Reading from National University.  I am currently taking professional development courses at Loyola Marymount University.

When I am away from school, I love spending time with my husband and our two beautiful children Mattilyn (11) and Shane (9). Mattilyn is in 6th Grade and Shane is in 4th Grade at Ysabel Barnett.  As a family, we enjoy attending San Diego Padres games and spend many evenings and weekends at the local softball and baseball fields and swimming in our new pool!
