Dear Parents,

Welcome to an exciting third grade year. I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and acquaint you with my goals and expectations for the year. I began my teaching career 37 years ago and have encompassed many different grade levels as well as special education. I cannot think of any other profession that would bring me the enjoyment and satisfaction of teaching. I believe that the most important aspect of my job is to insure that each and every child is challenged, held accountable, and is motivated to learn. I firmly believe in making each day valuable and productive for your child and that life long success depends upon self-discipline, great problem solving, and good decision making. I love to see the sparkle in a child's eyes when he accomplishes something challenging! I want all of my students to be excited to come to school and experience feelings of joy as he masters a new skill or problem solves.

When I am not teaching I am spending time with my family, gardening, painting, or shopping with friends. I have been married for 34 years to my husband, Joseph. We have three children. Justin, 30 who graduated from UCSB and is currently pursuing an NBA. Chrissie, 28 who graduated from UCSB, is working at UCSB, and is pursuing a Masters Degree in Counseling. Aubree Anne is 23 and graduated from CSCI. She is currently working in San Diego. My children, like all children, grow up fast. Take time to enjoy the small things and cherish the special moments.
