Greetings! My name is Mrs. Balka, and I am very excited and honored to work with you this school year. This will be my 17th year teaching English and my 11th year as Peer Leaders Advisor. I feel very passionate about my field of work, and I hope to foster a love for learning and a drive for knowledge in each of my students. I believe in every one of you. You have the power to achieve whatever you set out to do. I promise to encourage you to be the best you can be, so please rise to the occasion! Don't ever let yourself down. I have a great year planned for us, but our success is contingent upon your commitment and dedication. Remember to always give 100%! On a personal note, my greatest passion in life is my family which includes my wonderful husband of 27 years, Brian, and my three amazing daughters: Gabrielle, 21; Joelle, 19; Elle, 10. I love spending every moment with them whether it be going to the movies or on family walks, or playing games, and snuggling together while reading or watching TV. I savor each moment in life and cherish the love around me.

So here is to a great year - one filled with all sorts of educational opportunities that will assist you in both your academic and personal growth. You are young adults with so much to offer the world - don't hold back -  see what you've got!!
