Tammy Draughon

I am excited to be part of the Great Oak Science Department and to be teaching AP, IB and standard Physics.  I love my family, running and teaching!   Physics is AMAZING and I love sharing my excitement for this subject with students and helping them develop high level critical thinking skills.

  • I also love to run and spend time training for races.  Currently, I have run 19 full marathons, with 6 of them being the Boston Marathon.   I will Boston Marathon (virtually) in September 2020, as my 20th marathon.  Training happens early each morning in order for me to take as little time as possible away from my family, so students will find I am available during and after school, but not usually before school.  

    I am grateful to have run the Boston Marathon in 2013, 2014, 2015, 1017, 2018 and will be returning in 2019.

  • My family has a fun Halloween/Christmas Tradition.  Each year we dress up in some sort of theme, take pictures at Halloween and then turn the image into our Christmas card.  The picture below is my family in 2018, embracing our inner dragons :) .
